First Things First, Introductions!

IMAG1574

Hi there! I’m Dalessi, your fellow little mama, wife, Mormon, chocoholic, and organizing addict.

This is Aiden. He’s a happy, playful little monkey, and extremely sensitive. A total mama’s boy.

Fun fact: I’m 4’10” tall, but I boast 4’11” sometimes. I’m convinced that some days, I’m taller.

Here is a picture of me standing next to my giant loverboy, Jordan. (Keep in mind, I’m wearing heels.) He’s 6’1” and affectionately suggested I name my blog “Tidy Little Hobbit”. Harr harr.

He’s a gaming and computer nerd, film editor, fish taco aficionado, an affectionate and fun daddy, and my best friend. We’ve been married since 2013.

Why I Started This Blog

I’ve always wanted to start a blog, but I never had the guts to do it before. After giving birth to our first son, Aiden, I started to have a really hard time emotionally with my new role and responsibilities as a parent. At first, I tried to deal with it on my own, thinking it was normal and that it would eventually pass. But as the year stretched on, I started to feel like I was losing it and finally sought help. What I thought was just postpartum depression turned out to be something that I had actually been struggling with my whole life and just didn’t realize it before.

Gaining this new perspective on myself and seeing the patterns in my life of fighting this dark monster has been kind of scary. It’s easy for me to feel like I don’t have a lot of control at times. It also explains the tendency I have to be overwhelmed easily. In all the chaos of life, I have always craved simplicity.

I think that cleaning and organizing started out as a way for me to gain back some control when things have felt stressful.

Now I’m learning to try to let go more and accept I can’t control everything, but I have also learned that there are things I can do to help eliminate chaos and clutter, both physical and mental.

I started this blog to share what I’ve learned and am learning. I want to help you and your family in your journey to a more uncluttered and tidy home so you can breathe easier and spend more of your time with the people you love. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Let Me Help You!

First, let me put out there that I’m NOT a professional organizer. I’m just your average Joe, completely ordinary, first-time mom who has a knack for tidying up spaces.

I don’t know about you, but I think and feel better when my house is neat and tidy. I believe that our environment often mirrors and affects how we feel, and a house of clutter and chaos breeds confusion and frustration. No thanks!

My goal is to help you get out of that clutter cycle that’s keeping you stressed and a mess! And it’s gonna be fun! Because I’m a weirdo and I think throwing things away and organizing is a party.

First, please let me reassure you that I will never judge. I grew up in a house with 8 people, that’s 6 of us kids constantly running around making messes. So I know how chaotic life can be and how overwhelming it can seem to “get organized”.

I won’t pretend that our house doesn’t get messy. It does. But, one thing I will tell you is that the majority of the time, our messes or clutter can be cleared and put away in 5 minutes. How you say? Well, I could pat myself on the back and boast that I’m a hard worker and an organizing genius. But it just isn’t true.

Can I share a secret with you?

Keeping a tidy home can be EASY.

There are many ideas out there to help us clean and organize our homes. But it doesn’t have to be a big headache or a project that takes up all your time, energy, and money.

I’ll help you do it in ways that are simple, budget-friendly, and effective.

All it takes is some creativity, some good decluttering and purging, and maybe a bit of a mind shift. And chocolate. Chocolate is always a good idea.

Just remember, you can do this!
